A change in one week

Last week I was a rockstar when it came to working out. I worked out everyday, sometimes 2 times a day.

This week I am looking at very little work out time. Today I was in a meeting from 8-2 and tonight I am working again. Tomorrow I am hopeful though.

On the 8th day

she rested again.

It wasn't supposed to be a day of rest and it really wasn't. It was just a crazy day that no exercise occurred. Hopefully tomorrow I will get to have a workout.

I worked out everyday this week. Yay for me!

Today was a great crossfit extreme class. We did kind of a circuit training thing. It was awesome! I really felt great afterward.

I said I would do it and I did

I did 30 mins on the elliptical over lunch then I ran 2 miles plus one set of stairs after work. I'm feeling pretty proud of myself and pretty fit.

3 days in a row

I have been on a roll with my exercise routine. Today was another cross-fit extreme day. It was a total body class with the emphasis on legs. Then I did some more yoga tonight to stretch out the stiff spots.

Tomorrow I hope to run. I still have 6 miles for this week. Actually my ideal day would be to do the elliptical over lunch and then run after work at the arena. We are having jambalaya tomorrow from the crockpot so I should have some time before dinner to run.

To end the day

To end the day I decided to do a little yoga. The stretching felt great. And now to bed.

Recumbent bike

Today I needed something different. I needed a break from work and my brain. So I sat and biked 6.5 miles on the recumbent bike (weight loss mode which changes the resistance every 4 minutes) while I read the new magazine that I got last night. Pretty good lunch break.

Class day

Crossfit extreme has started a new rotation. Part of the class focus is the concept of muscle confusion. The teacher tries to change the class about every 4 weeks. We do something different during each day of the week. (class is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) The classes are repeated for four weeks then we start something new. The last few weeks we did Legs on Monday and now we have moved onto shoulders. Great work out that I enjoy most of except all of the pushups.

Sunday





It is the end of the third full week of the year and I finally got all six miles in this week. I did 2.25 miles at the arena today. Felt pretty good. Right now I am just trying to get running done a few times a week. Starting in the middle of February I plan to really add the miles in.

Well I did end up running today. My initial plan for the week was to do 3 miles today but since I lacked motivation big time (see my last post) I think 2 miles is pretty good. And of course now I have more energy and I wish I had done the three. oh well.

darn meetings...

The meetings got in the way. I had a meeting from 8-12:15 then since one of my partners was ill today I had to go to one of his meetings from 1:30-3:30. It was a very long day.

I made it work

Today for my lunch workout I decided I just couldn't run on the treadmill so I went to the Arena. I wasn't real sure how this would work with my hour for lunch but I thought I would try and see.

I walked 1/4 mile to my car
drove to the arena
ran 2 miles in about 22 minutes
then did two laps around the arena doing all the stairs (took about 9 minutes)
I next drove home, showered, made a sandwich
drove back to work
walked 1/2 mile back to the office and got back to work.

The whole thing took me about an 70 minutes. Not bad. I think I can make this part of my regular routine. Not everyday but every week at least.

And its only Tuesday and I already have 2 of my 6 miles done. I may actually get all 6 in this week.

Cross Fit Extreme - again

Today it was legs again. Good workout but felt a bit sluggish from the wild game feast that we went to last night. Oh well.

Tomorrow I shall run. Don't know if it will be on the treadmill or at the arena. Maybe I will be daring and try to run outside. If it is as nice as it was today (although not as slick) I could do it.

On a side note: My calves have been super super tight. I am going to have to figure out how to get them stretched before this becomes a bigger problem.

The weather haunts me

I have good intentions but the weather doesn't seem to want to let them happen. In the Spring, Summer, and Fall I am able to just get up and run outside and be done. In the winter I have to schedule my running around when Young Arena is open or I have to run on the treadmill.

I guess this is my way of saying I only ran 2 miles this week. I didn't work out at all this weekend. However I did chase my 16 month old a lot.

Still hate the treadmill


Yup its true. I really am not fond of the treadmill. However I did run 2 miles on it today. I thought about running at young arena but was unable to work out the logistics. So it had to be the treadmill. But at least I did 2 miles. Now I need to run 4 more miles before the end of the week. More if possible.

Sad Face


I didn't get to run today or even exercise at all. My meeting was a LONG one. The best part of the meeting is that we were walking throughout a facility which means I was walking a lot rather than being stuck at a desk. So my legs/bum got stretched and loosened and feel pretty darn good rather than stiff and sore.

Tomorrow we have another cross fit extreme class.

Cross Fit Extreme

Today was butt class at the Y. It will be interesting to see how I feel tomorrow. We did this same class last Monday and I was unable to properly walk until Friday. But that just means that I was working muscles that I don't use enough... Right?!

Tomorrow I am hoping to run 3 miles but we will have to see how the day goes because I have an out of town meeting.

I'm Back!


Its 2011 and now it is time to start training for my second 1/2 marathon. I am not real sure which one I am going to do since I am not real sure what my schedule is but the training is beginning.

My goals for the year in addition to the 1/2 are the following:

1. No matter what my week is like run a minimum of 6 miles per week.

2. Run the half plus 5 races. I did that many last year so I figure its a goal that is easy to reach. I would like to do a variety of distances but we will have to see what is available and works with my schedule.

So how am I doing so far on the 8th of January?

Well I bought new shoes - featured above. Don't they look fast? I think they completely match my personality. They have gotten me in the right training mindset because I want to show them off.

I have not had the best week of working out but I have gotten 5 miles in 2 sessions. I plan to run again tomorrow to ensure I get my 6 miles.
